THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER TRAILER

The first teaser for Marvel's Thor: Love and Thunder has landed online over the Easter weekend.

The fourth MCU movie in the Thor series, once again starring Chris Hemsworth in its lead role and directed by Taika Waititi, is on its way this summer but fans had been concerned that there was no trailer so close to its release.

It seems Marvel Studios was holding out until the Easter holiday to drop the fresh footage, which begins in glorious style with Sweet Child O' Mine playing over its intro.

Following on from Thor: Ragnarok, it appears the God of Thunder is going in a different life direction, one to find himself and move away from the life of a superhero (invariably making way for the next line-up of the Avengers style team Disney has lined up since Avengers: End Game.

There's a fair bit to look at here, most notably the inclusion of returning characters Korg (voiced by Waititi), Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie and Russell Crowe as Zeus. There's political turmoil abound on a rebuilt Asgard and, teasingly, we see evidence of Gorr the God Butcher's crimes (played by Christian Bale).

However, the biggest reveal has to be right at the end, where Jane Foster appears as the new incarnation of Thor, which will be really interesting to see. Based on the Lady Thor comic book history, Natalie Portman is set to assume the adapted role as the character of Thor.

While we are only given relatively little information to work with here, it could be because what we end up with here is the results of what we see in the Doctor Strange sequel, so it wouldn't make any sense to spoil that mammoth movie coming out soon.

Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters on July 8, 2022, after we've seen Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is released this May.
