PENNYWISE ACTOR CAST AS THE CROW

The actor who played Pennywise in the newest iterations of the It movies is now set to take on another iconic role, this time as The Crow.

Bill Skarsgard, known for his roles in Eternals, Deadpool 2, and Atomic Blonde - as well as the murderous clown of evil in It - Part One and its sequel It - Part Two - has been cast in Rupert Sanders' (helmer of the live-action Ghost in the Shell) remake of 1994's The Crow.

The movie's something of a cult classic amongst film lovers, despite it being infamous for the on-set death of its star Brandon Lee. The actor was killed during a stunt gone wrong when a gun loaded with blanks was fired at him, accidentally injuring him and resulting in his shocking death.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Skarsgard will assume the lead role of Eric Draven, with only FKA Twigs, confirmed as the other cast member thus far, there's very little to go on regarding details around the rest of the cast and any alterations to the familiar plot.

The bare-bones synopsis on IMDb, "A year after he and his fiance are murdered, Eric is brought back to life by a mystical crow", reads fairly similar to the original '90s film, based on James O'Barr's 1989 dark comic centering on a revenge story.

Despite the tragic death of its lead, The Crow spawned a further three sequels over the years, with different actors assuming the lead role. In 1996, Vincent Perez starred in The Crow: City of Angels, 2000 saw Eric Mabius appear as the lead in The Crow: Salvation and Edward Furlong was cast in 2005's The Crow: Wicked Prayer.

The Crow is currently in pre-production and has no release date scheduled yet.
