NO WAY HOME IS 'SPIDER-MAN'S END GAME' SAYS DIRECTOR

Anyone looking forward to seeing Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third in the MCU solo trilogy, has been given even more reason to get excited after director Jon Watt's latest comments.

Speaking about the next Spidey outing, which is in cinemas this December, he had some pretty big claims when it came to describing the tone and magnitude of the Tom Holland and Zendaya-led movie.

"We’re definitely trying to be ambitious,” Watts revealed to Empire, in the magazine's newest issue. “It’s ‘Spider-Man: Endgame’,” he said, which puts an enormous amount of pressure on the solo antics of Peter Parker, but also gives fans a lot to be elated about.

Avengers: End Game, helmed by the Russo brothers, was lauded as an epic in every conceivable way. It not only brought every MCU hero together (and in one place, no less) but tied off individual stories and character arcs that had been brewing and developing over the course of nearly a decade.

So to suggest the latest Spider-Man flick is in any way comparable surely means they're confident it's good and that they can, as a cast and crew, deliver on such a promise.

“When I was first pitched the idea, I was like, ‘Wow, that would be awesome if we could pull it off’,” actor Tom Holland said of the film, without, surprisingly, spilling any spoilers. “‘But there’s just no way it’s going to work. You’re just not going to be able to get everyone to do what they need to do. It’s just not going to happen.’ But it did happen. And it’s crazy.”

With the trailer generating such a buzz, especially after the teased reveal of Green Goblin and actual footage of Doc Ock at the very end with Alfred Molina's "Hello, Peter," line, there's every reason for fans to be anticipating this one.

Combine the above with the inclusion of Doctor Strange, as well as a host of speculative additions like Sandman, Electro and alternate universe Peters Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the possibilities for this next installment are enormous.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is in cinemas from 17 December, 2021.
